On August 21st, 2017, a total solar eclipse was visible from Oregon to South Carolina. It coincided with my move from Bloomington (Indiana) to Phoenix (Arizona), so I packed the rental car with all my gear, and instead of driving straight for Phoenix, went on a small detour to observe the eclipse from where the weather statistics were the best. I ended up being invited by someone in John Day (Oregon) and enjoyed the spectacle in the company of new friends!
